Two questions in regards to read/write speed, reliability, security, and ease of access:

  1. What would be better for a server grade desktop, with ECC memory, for a raid 1 mirror on root, Linux software raid w/BTRFS (via mdadm) or ZFS?
  2. What would be better for additional storage with a raid 1 mirror (configured as you answered in question one), Linux software raid w/BTRFS (via mdadm) or ZFS?

Installation instructions:
ZFS On Root& zfs-installer
Raid1 mdadm On Root

Some references:
Healthy debate for both, but seven years old and more users using BTRFS.
Single data point - Faster write speed with mdadm.
